Kendra, Your lesson definitely generated conversation and questions, you did a great job! I think your lesson could be even better if there was a separate sheet which had definitions and if the information sheets could include pictures. Your utilization of the white board also helped me digest all of our information and see where we all stood. Keep up the good work Kendra.
Hi Kendra, I really enjoyed your choice of topic; it was fascinating to compare different types of government around the world. You did a great job asking questions and guiding the discussion. I particularly appreciated when you asked me: if a King in an absolute monarchy doesn't have expertise or special training to rule, then how do they maintain power? It was an effective question that made me examine my assumptions and biases. Your initial question was clear, but I did feel a little bit lost at the beginning of the lesson. I think it might be helpful to choose a few aspects of government to focus on, at least during the initial exploration. I also agree with Karen that some changes to the handout might have been helpful. A chart format might make the data easier to digest and compare across pages. Overall, it was a great choice for a lesson and generated an interesting and engaging discussion. I think it's a really valuable topic for students to learn about!
